british-embarrassment

Apparently in the 18th century, the British
left hand did not know what the British right
hand was doing.
The British has had several deaf members of
the Royalty – and they have done their
nation proud while carrying out their royal duties.
But in 1766, Bournemouth Borough council
issued a proclamation that deaf people cannot
run for the councilor position during local
elections.
What this meant was that a deaf person
can serve as part of the royalty but cannot
run for the councilor position in a public
election!
The town recently discovered this
overlooked edict, much to their
embarrassment, and had it repealed.
