Ernie DiGregorio, one of the greatest players at Providence
College, had a disappointing NBA career. After
he retired, he went back to school – and needed to
get college credits for coaching basketball in
a high school level. For that reason he coached
boys’ basketball at Rhode Island School for
the Deaf in the 1982-1983 season.

The school athletic director said his school had
a strong girls’ basketball team, but no one paid
attention to it because of the heavy media presence of
DiGregorio with the boys’ team. He only coached
one season.

He is no longer involved with basketball; instead
working for a casino.
