Amsterdam, NY, during the thirties and forties, had
a population of some 35,000 people. The biggest
construction company, and pretty much credited
for creating important buildings and landmarks
in Amsterdam was the Turner Construction Company.

For 13 years (1927-1940), the company president
was Richard E. Turner. He was deaf. When he
passed away in 1940, the company was never the
same and went into decline.
