deaf-goalie-national-hearing-soccer-team

There are over 200 national men’s soccer teams
according to fifa.com.

So far there has only been one deaf goalie on
one of these national teams.

It was Athiel Mbaha, who was the starter
at goalie with the Namibian (Africa) national
men’s soccer team. He played nearly 40 games
with the Namibian national teams in international
play. He also has played professionally for a
number of pro teams. He played right up to the
2000’s decade.

The joke is that because of his deafness, he screams
at his teammates to know what to do during these
international contests.

He is now retired from soccer play.
