deaf-golfer-twice-us-open-qualifier

Patty Lopez, a deaf golfer, twice qualified for the
US Open; first time as an amateur in 1982 and then
in 1992 as a professional. She did not make the
cut in both opens. In the 1992 Open, her caddy
was the late Gil Lentz, a deaf golfing teacher.
She said Gil was the best caddy she ever had!

She played as a pro on one of these women’s
mini-tours, and twice defeated Pat Hurst,
a hearing golfer who won a major tour.

She also worked as a pro at several country
clubs.
