deaf-in-roller-derby

Way back in the fifties and sixties, roller derby was
a popular sport, attracting thousands of fans to
these meets. This sport has faded badly in popularity
in recent decades.

We have had two deaf professional roller derby
participants.

Jay Levy participated in the fifties. Not too much
known about him.

Debbi Douglas participated during the seventies for
for Texas Outlaws, New York Bombers, Detroit Devils and
Los Angeles Thunderbirds.

Women’s roller derby, growing in popularity these days,
is a much different version of roller derby years ago.
It is like comparing softball with baseball.
