deaf-owned-standardbred-horses-training-stable

For a few years during the late seventies, three
deaf individals, all employed at Illinois
School for the Deaf, became partners in a
standardbred racing stable. The purpose was
to train these horses for resale to the
highest bidders at auctions. After a while
they realized it was too much work, even
during their spare hours, and eventually
gave up the business.
