deaf-referees-in-football

We have a good number of deaf referees in
football.

Some of them have refereed football games
for many years on all levels up to junior
college football.

A long time deaf referee made this
interesting accusation – that many deaf
referees are back judges – because it
is easier to officiate football games
from the defensive backfield. Discrimination?
That deaf referee said yes.

DeafDigest Sports editor met a deaf man –
Paul Winfree, Baton Rouge, LA who is
a football umpire. These umpires look
at interior linemen – between the tackles
for clipping and holding infractions.
