Lou Mariano, who was deaf, was a top running
back with the Kent State football teams
of early fifties. At Kent State he broke
records for most yards rushed in one game
(226), longest run from scrimmage )99)
and most points scored in a season (86).
When his collegiate career ended, he was
drafted by Pittsburgh Steelers, but did
not make the team. He is now in Kent
State University athletic hall of fame.
