In Greco-Roman wrestling, deaf wrestler Ignazio Fabra,
from Italy, took part in three Olympics – winning
a silver in 1952, another silver in 1956 and
finished fourth in 1960. He took part in the
1965 Deaflympics but was already over the hill
and was not in condition to take on much younger
deaf opponents!

He was a heavy favorite in 1952 Olympics and
was leading until the last minute when he
did not understand the coach’s commands and
used wrong moves and lost!

He wrestled in the flyweight division.
