How diverse are our deaf people in the workforce? The latest
edition of Gallaudet Today, which profiles class notes show that
we have deaf people working in positions such as chef, pharmacist,
athletic coach at a hearing university, EMT, biological researcher and
Fullbright scholar.
What about NTID? Their latest issue of NTID Focus features students
that are majoring in fields ranging from database developer to social
work, but not excluding photography, packaging science and software
engineering.
Years ago, deaf graduates were encouraged to become teachers, civil
servants and printers because jobs beyond the realm was considered
unthinkable in these days.
