Dick Hoke, way back in the early fifties, achieved an
interesting distinction. As a freshman wrestler at
Gallaudet, he won the Mason-Dixon Conference championship.
University of Wisconsin offered him a wrestling
scholarship, prompting him to transfer there to wrestle
after just a year at Gallaudet. Tampering??????

At Wisconsin, he was a good wrestler in Big Ten
competition and his biggest moment was upsetting
a past Olympic wrestler. Hoke said that the opponent
was overconfident and did not work hard in that match!

After his wrestling days, he returned to Gallaudet
as a career employee and at the same time coaching
wrestling at Gallaudet and at Model Secondary School.
