POSITION: WALDEN SCHOOL FAMILY PARTNER
DEFINITION: The Family Partner as part of the clinical team in Walden School.
She/he is respnsible fo support and advocacy to parents/caregivers,
providing some direct services and helping families identify and
access community resources.
REQUIREMENTS: The candidate should have experience providing supportive
services to families or to individuals with emotional or bahavioral
challenges, preferably as a caregiver. A second language fluency
in ASL and bicultural competency are required. The Family
Partner must be able to work collaboratively with a team and
possess effective interpersonal and communication skills. Time
flexibility and some availability during evening/weekend hours is
required as is a valid Massachusetts driver’s license. Some travel
is required.
SUPERVISOR: Walden School Clinical Director
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works with families and other members of the team to identify strengths, needs and resources.
Provides support services to family members, including facilitating visits and assisting with the
access of services in the home community
Facilitates family members visiting Walden School
Shares case coordination and liaison responsibilities with the mental health therapist
Collaborates with residential, educational and nursing staff
Assists parents/guardians with challenging parenting situations
Utilizes a strength-based, family-centered approach to assist child and family in the development
of self-advocacy skills.
