— a rare deaf petition win

most deaf petitions do not win, no matter how many
signatures have been signed. These petitions are often
laughed off and ignored. But one deaf petition did win.
The Los Angeles Unified School District wanted to close
the ASL program at the North Valley Occupational Center.
Nearly 60,000 signatures kept the program open!

— a nasty hearing attitude about deaf web cam equipment

A deaf employee wanted a deaf web cam equipment at her
desk so that she can make video relay calls. Her request
was turned down; her supervisor said:

We have provided TTY for employees to use; we will not
accept deaf web cam equipment.

It didn’t matter to the hearing supervisor that the
TTY is obsolete, and no one really uses it.
