Edie Boyer, who was deaf, was a discus thrower who was the
1995 USA women’s discus champion, and competed at two
World Championships (1995 and 1997) during her career.

What was amazing was that she was a late bloomer in track
and field! Her primary sports were women’s hockey and
basketball (NCAA-II with North Dakota State University.

After graduating she realized she would be better off
in track and field, as opposed to participating in
team wports.

She tried out for the Olympics but didn’t make it,
finishing 7th in the tryouts – which was her biggest
athletic disappointment.
