national-deaf-basketball-tournament-biggest-upset

The biggest upset in national deaf basketball tournament history
took place at the 1980 tournament in San Diego.

San Diego, the host team, was hastily assembled at the
last minute. The team only had a few games and few
practice sessions. The players really did not know each
other and there was no on-court chemistry with them.
The skill level of these players were not that impressive.

They were slated to play against the #1 seed Buffalo team,
said to be a heavy tournament favorite.

San Diego won 80-71, stunning the fans that watched the game,
especially the seeding committee that tabbed Buffalo as
the top seed.
