In 1955, Kevin Milligan, from St Mary’s School for the Deaf, made
the National Catholic High School All-American basketball
team.

It is the highest honor a deaf basketball player from a deaf school
could ever achieve on a national level.

Did college basketball scholarship offers come his way? Kevin
does not know, because in these days deaf students at
St Mary’s School for the Deaf were sheltered. And it may have
been possible that letters and phone calls were kept hidden
from Kevin.

He, however, played a season of basketball at Erie Community
College before transferring to Gallaudet.
