There is a shortage of qualified deaf candidates for
superintendet positions of schools of the deaf or for
CEO/Executive Director positions for agencies serving the
deaf or even of directors of state agencies of the deaf.

Whose fault? Should we be pointing our finger at the
CSUN’s long-closed National Leadership Training Program?
For years the LTP was the breeding grounds for future
leaders of deaf-related programs. Not any more.

And we are always seeing vacancies in these vital
positions in the deaf community.

It was understood that shortage of funds led the program
to shut down permanently.
