James F. (Jimmy) Meagher

Jimmy Meagher, who was deaf, was a two-time national AAU wrestling champion in the 108 lb class (1918 & 1919). He was born and grew up in Chicago.

He later became a prominent writer and sports writer for Deaf Community publications. He passed away in 1951. Interestingly enough, while he was very much part of the Deaf Community, he never really could master ASL!
