– What the stories are saying about the deaf?

From time to time we have a deaf student in a

medical school. The latest one is Mark Leekoff, taking classes at the West Virginia University School of Medicine. He is the school’s first deaf student. He comes to the school with a degree in Biology from Tufts University, Medford, MA with an award for academic excellence.

A deaf Briton raised the issue of juries. It is because deaf people are not allowed to serve on a jury, and this deaf man is planning to mount a legal challenge despite previous unsuccessful challenge efforts.

– Very Hot News

L K Venkat, not deaf and a law school graduate, has filed a petition in the Madras High Court (India) the law that would not permit the deaf to run for public office. His argument was denial of equal opportunity for the deaf.
