Top stories about the deaf:
An educator in India said that many schools in his
nation refuse to accept deaf students.
A group of psychologists has come up with the
theory that the early age deafness may lead to
serious mental health issues as the person gets
older.
A job fair for the deaf in Utah attracted
300 deaf job seekers with 40 different
employers interviewing them.
Japan may make a bid to host the Deaflympics in
2025. This nation has never hosted Deaflympics in
the past.
There has been much misunderstanding on the campus
of University of Manchester in Great Britain
with respect to the banning of clapping in favor
of the deaf wave. Some say there is a ban on
clapping, others say no such a thing as a ban.

A CRAZY LAW IN MASSACHUSETTS
For many years in Massachusetts, all deaf clubs broke
the law.
The state had an old law that requires all movie
projectionists to have a state license! Why? We do not
know.
This means that deaf clubs in the state that show
captioned films were in violation of the law.
Fortunately, no deaf projectionists were arrested!
Today, it seems not to be a problem because movie
films are old fashioned; we watch movies with DVDs.

GARBAGE IS MONEY
Garbage smells awful, but it is money for some deaf schools
and some deaf service agencies.
At some big events (Indianapolis 500, Kentucky Derby,
Talladega 500, etc), deaf groups come to clean up garbage.
Money from the garbage goes to deaf groups.
So, when hearing people complain that garbage smells
bad, it smells sweet for the deaf!

Rene Pellerin’s Corner:
In Vermont, foliage season is at its peak right now.
How I miss hiking up the mountains to view those awesome colors!
It is not easy for me to just pack my backpack and hit the trail anymore.
I need to make advance plans and find volunteers to guide me up the
trails.
The success rate is low and it is frustrating.
You would be surprised to see the comments folks say.
“You are crazy, you are blind and should not climb mountains.”
Well folks, with proper training and guidance hiking can be very safe!
Rene’s show business started in year 2010 and it focuses on the
Deaf-Blind.
