Hilton Fitzpatrick, who attended West Virginia School for the
Deaf and Blind in the early forties, was an outstanding
professional boxer in the lightheavyweight and heavyweight
divisions. He was, at one time, ranked the world’s #3
heavyweight contender and #1 lightheavyweight contender.
He fought twice with future heavyweight champion Ezzard
Charles, each time knocking him down, but getting himself
knocked out. He did not rise above expectations of his
fans.
