rookie-wrestler-wins-state-championship

Tommy Cook was a sub on the Virginia School
for the Deaf basketball team during the
early eighties.

Tired of sitting on the bench, he decided
to out for the wrestling team in his senior
year (1983). Wrestling for the first time in his
life, he compiled a 18-3 record and won
the state championship in the 185-lb class!

He won the district and the regional championships
prior to entering the state meet.
