street-named-after-non-famous-deaf-person

It is assumed that fame is necessary before getting a street
named after that person. Yet, a street was named after a
non-famous person!
Larry Whitworth, a deaf draftsman, was assigned to draw updated
maps for the city of Round Rock, TX, a suburb of Austin. Larry came
across an unnamed street and asked his boss about it. There wasn’t
enough time to get a new street name so Whitworth Lane was it, courtesy
of the boss!
Interestingly enough Larry purchased a new house just next to
Whitworth Lane. He is able to wake up in the morning, look out at the
window and see the street sign for Whitworth Lane.
