During the 1999 football season, Gallaudet was blessed
with two elite wide receivers (Darnell Woods and
Patrick Deas). They were lined up on the opposite sides
of the scrimmage line. It gave opposing defensives a lot
of coverage problems – to double team Woods and single team
Deas, or vice versia. One team just double teamed each
receiver, meaning other Gallaudet receivers were ignored!
Darnell Woods, who played plenty of high school and
college football, made this quip that made everyone laugh.
I have never seen double double-coverages in my life!
