Did you know that –

William Woods, during the seventies, wrote several strong articles
in the Deaf American magazine, advocating the rights of deaf
individuals to get jobs as truck drivers. He said that there were
no grounds for US Department of Transportation to discriminate
against the deaf. When we read about recent successful efforts
to grant hearing exceptions for deaf truck drivers, it is so
easy to forget Woods’ series of articles of 40 years ago.
