Top stories about the deaf:
Bulgaria has come up with the 112 technology
for the deaf (the same as USA’s 911 to text
technology).
Moray Council, in Scotland, has become the first
such council to use sign language interpreters
during council meetings.
The deaf community of Barbados has been given
training on how to deal with weather disasters.
The Canadian Hearing Society, which has 24
branches across the Ontario province, reached
working agreement with the Canadian Union of
Public Employees. It was not too many years
ago when the deaf employees went on a strike
over refusal of the Canadian Hearing Society
to affiliate with the public union.
Apple is working on smart clothing that would
help the deaf lead quality lives.

SUFFERING A DOUBLE JOB DISCRIMINATION
This is a true story. A deaf electrical engineer
was job-seeking. He applied for a job at an electrical
design company. The human resources office turned him
down because of his deafness. The human resources
director placed his job discrimination in a personnel
office box.
The president of that company saw the application
form and immediately hired him. The president’s son
was deaf!
But the deaf engineer could not get job promotions.
Other company electrical engineers got easily
promoted but not him.
Tired of waiting he left the company and found
another job.
  This is the double discrimination!

AMERICANS SIGNING FOREIGN AMERICAN LANGUAGES
This is a true story. Two deaf Americans were arguing
in sign language. The third person, himself deaf, watched
the argument but did not understand the argument.
  Why? The two deaf Americans were arguing in ASL;
the third deaf person, not arguing, but watching,
only knew SEE (Signing Essential English) and could
not just understand one word!
Do we, the deaf in USA, have too many different
American languages in signs?
  Yes.

Rene Pellerin’s Corner:
Since my past post about accessible paper money,
many of you contacted me inquiring where to obtain
a free money reader.
This device is small and slides over the paper money
and it will give a vibration for each amount.
It will take practice to get used to this money reader.
Below is the link to a form and instructions on how to
apply for a free money reader.
Happy money counting!
Thanks for writing.
Rene’s show business started in year 2010 and it focuses on the
