COUNSELING DEPARTMENT
POSITION: SCHOOL COUNSELOR
Definition: The counselor will provide individual and group counseling
services to students and work collaboratively with faculty and
staff to address the social emotional development of students.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Licensed social worker or mental health counselor; or
ability to become licensed. Masters Degree in related field.
• Expertise in serving a deaf population, with at least a second
language fluency in American Sign Language.
SUPERVISOR: Associate Executive Director
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide individual and/or group counseling services.
Work closely with the educational departments on the development and implementation of
psycho-social curriculum, including building positive interpersonal relationships, managing
conflicts, and anti-bias education.
Maintain contact with families of students receiving counseling services and assist in
obtaining additional services outside of school when needed.
Work with other members of the counseling department to develop policies and procedures
for the provision of counseling services to students.
Complete progress reports and/or service summary reports as scheduled.
