DeafDigest Mid-Week edition, August 1, 2012 -- A lucky deaf woman and a hearing plumber A deaf British woman had a water leak in her home. She contacted several hearing plumbers and they tried to overcharge her. She felt they took advantage of her deafness.  Angry, she explained the pricing problem with the newspaper consumer editor. It was mentioned in the newspaper the next day. A plumber read the story and came to the deaf woman, offering her $100 for the job that others were charging $400. Why the lower price? The plumber's girlfriend is deaf and he felt bad about the deaf woman having a hard time with other plumbers.   -- insurance company cheating a deaf woman A deaf woman has an insurance policy that covers accidental damage to her hearing aid. She accidentally damaged the hearing aid - but the insurance company refused to pay for it. Why? Not in her case!   -- A witness telling the court he went to an oral school An old joke? Well, in the book "Disorder in the American Courts" there was a story - Attorney asked: ALL your responses MUST be oral, OK? What school did you go to? Witness said:  Oral   Is it oral school for the deaf or oral school for the hearing???????     -- The ADA and the hearing person A newspaper story said: Most hearing employer are aware of ADA, but are not trained how to deal with the needs of their deaf employees ADA a joke? In some cases, probably!     -- Police refused to help deaf victim in a fight? In Houston, Texas, a hearing man punched a deaf man in the face. Police was called.
