-- passing notes with a doctor
at a hospital, a doctor was praised by for passing
notes with a deaf patient during the birth of her child.
No interpreter, but note passing? Well, this hospital is
in China's Yichang, Hubei Province. Different nation,
different disability laws. And not every deaf person knows
sign language. A picture of note passing is at:

-- comment from ADA activist
A deaf activist, with knowledge of ADA regulations,
made this comment:
Government agencies do not enforce ADA unless a deaf
person files a formal complaint. And most deaf people
don't.
-- a happy day for the deaf
In Hawaii, the deaf, that love movies, will be
very happy. January 1st is the day of the new
law - that requires open captions in movie
houses. Helping celebrate the new law is the
captioned showing of today's hot movie -
Star Wars. Legislator James Tokioka pushed
for this law. His son is deaf and 10 years ago
he filed a lawsuit forcing Little League to
provide interpretes for him. The son has since
then grew up and is a member of the golf team
at University of Hawaii.
