-- sign language by banks
American banks do not have its own sign language,
though some use video service or interpreters to
communicate with deaf clients. The Bahrain Association
of Banks is coming up with its own sign language
dictionary for the benefit of the deaf. A picture

-- value of job coach/employment specialist
Many deaf agencies have a job coach/employment
specialist. Exactly what they do? A local California
newspaper ran a nice story about the VENTURA—Tri-County
Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness. The story
says the agency employment specialist works one on one
with clients, helping with job resumes, teaching them
how to do good interviews and to solve employer
miscommunications.
-- a rare sponsorship by a huge corporation
We have deaf automobile racers. Almost all of them
struggle with one thing - getting sponsorship funds.
But for Fahad Al Abdullatif, a deaf auto racer
from Saudi Arabia, he is fortunate. Nissan,
one of the world's largest automobile companies,
have given him a lot of sponsorship funds to allow
him to continue racing. Big time auto racing is
expensive, into many millions of dollars.
Our American deaf racers get little sponsorship
money and they struggle throughout their racing
careers.
