-- a special deaf attraction in Bologna, Italy
If you are touring Bologna, Italy and get thirsty,
you could stop at the Senza Nome. It is a bar
operated by the deaf. Deaf bartenders accept
orders by sign language or written notes, or
gestures. This bar is open to public - meaning
hearing people are welcome. Said a newspaper -
business is great.
-- double deaf bad news
No one likes bad news, especially double deaf
bad news.
#1 bad news - A federal appeals court said that
ADA does not apply to Netflix because this
company is not a building, but an online
provider
#2 bad news - another federal appeals court
said ADA does not apply to eBay, same reason
as above
Judges continue to disagree on what ADA is
all about with captions and online access.
This is why we have Disability Law specialists.
-- volunteers finally not permitted
DeafDigest mentioned a while ago that Tennessee would
allow police officers to use volunteer interpreters
in deaf domestic cases. Deaf organizations screamed,
and the legislators backed off. Instead, police
must use approved interpreters.
