-- a national beauty pageant crown
The Miss Republic of the Philippines pageant is coming up
soon. Pageant winners will wear the crown. Rolando Cabalona,
who is deaf, built these crowns from his hands. This
task took him six months. He is employed by the
Kitsilver Jewelry in Meycauayan, a medium sized
Filipino city.

-- deaf in a horror film

happened to the deaf girl, but hope there is a
happy ending!
-- deaf catching a shoplifter and losing his job
A deaf man, working in a store, saw a shoplifting
and told his two managers about it. They told
him to follow instructions on how to deal with
the shoplifter. He did, but these two managers
"disappeared" from the store. It left the deaf
person alone in that dangerous situation. Upset,
the deaf man told the managers he will never
deal with shoplifting situations. A meeting
was scheduled. The deaf man asked for an
interpreter, and it was refused. In that meeting
he was told he was fired. He has since then
filed a lawsuit, since no interpreter was
provided during this personnel meeting.
