-- deaf cannot work in the office
Deaf people cannot work in the office because of their
deafness? This was the thinking by some Office Managers
in Great Britain! There was a story in a newspaper of a
young deaf British woman, seeking employment in an office
and being told she cannot do the job! Yes, she was very
angry about it! Fortunately she found employment in a
different office.
-- FCC vs Sorenson; FCC wins, so far
Sorenson has challenged the FCC on the formula the deaf
relay services are being funded. The three-judge panel
on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit
ruled in favor of FCC. Sorenson has two choices -
to accept it and move on, or to file an appeal -
this time with the Supreme Court. The scary part is
what will Sorenson do if this case reaches the
Supreme Court and they lose (again)?
-- a radio station wants to be accessible to the deaf
The InsideOUT is a radio station affiliated with the
University of Missouri. It is growing in popularity
and they said they are planning to make it accessible
to the deaf. Accessible to the deaf? How? Nothing about
captioned radio was mentioned in a newspaper story
about this radio station.
