DeafDigest - 04 February 2015

DeafDigest Mid-Week edition, February 4, 2015 -- using a CI as a weapon Could the CI be used as a weapon to fight off criminals? In real life, no; in fantasy life, yes - as Hartley Rathaway (or known as the Pied Piper) in the Flash story, took off his CI when criminals wanted to fight him. A strong noise from the CI overwhelmed them!     -- the reason many deaf videos do not have captions We have software that will convert voice to captions but quality of captions is bad. Also many signed videos also do not have captions. Why? Several signed-videos captioners told DeafDigest editor that it takes approximately 20 minutes to caption just one video minute! Plus another 20 minutes to edit the captions and also to fix the background colors. It is so time consuming.   -- a surprise discrimination against a deaf person A deaf man wanted to convert his prepaid card to a poker account in order to play poker. The casino told him he needed an ID number but refused to give it to him through a video relay. They said it is for reasons of privacy and security. The deaf man is very angry about it and is thinking of a lawsuit on grounds of discrimination.   Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/deafdigest1 Twitter: @deafdigest to make subscription changes, go to http://deafdigest.com, click on the "subscribe" icon and follow screen instructions 2/01/15 Blue edition at: http://deafdigest.com/category/newsletter/newsletter-blue-newsletter/ 2/01/15 Gold edition at: http://deafdigest.com/category/newsletter/newsletter-gold-newsletter/
