DeafDigest Mid-Week edition - July 4, 2018
-- watching a movie, to laugh or to cry
It has happened too often that deaf moviegoers
don't know whether to laugh or to cry. The
deaf person requests a captioning device;
the manager has to run around to look for
it in the supply closet. Then the manager
has to put in batteries. And then the
manager must make sure right captions are
being shown for the right movie! Open
captions are so much easier, but hearing
people hate it. A picture is at:

-- Sports Law, most important 2017-18 decision
The Sports Law article listed most important
decisions of the year (May 2017-April 30, 2018).
One such important decision involved stadium
captions - at the Denver's Pepsi Center.
The agreement is that the stadium must have open
captions on or by September 2018.
-- a tax for use of twitter and facebook
A government is charging 5 cents per day for people
that use the twitter and the facebook. This has
upset the Deaf Community because many deaf people
use the social media to keep themselves updated
on news and information. It is not happening
in USA - but in Uganda!
