DeafDigest Mid-Week edition, November 4, 2015 -- a big news website angry about deaf called as mutes The Huffingpost web site posted an article, angry about the deaf being called as mutes. Well, in India people call the deaf as deaf-mutes. And yet, in USA, with the world's strongest disability laws (ADA), deaf people are still called deaf-mutes. Take a look at the picture: http://deafdigest.com/telling-the-world-what-it-is/       -- deaf threatening a political party In USA, we have many angry deaf people - angry over discrimination, no jobs, audism, no money, poor education, no opportunities, etc. We have had protest marches in Washington, DC. But do we threaten our political parties - the Democrats and the Republicans? No, but it is happening in Ghana! Several deaf organizations are threatening to disrupt the National Democratic Congress (a political party in Ghana) if their demands are not being met.   -- a shocking experience with a travel agent A deaf woman, living in Japan, wanted to visit her family in USA, and wanted to book airfare with a travel agent. She was told that because of her deafness she was not allowed to fly! Very angry about it, she confronted the travel agent's supervisor - and she was able to get airflight reservations. It happened about 20 years ago. To this day, she is bitter about it.     Latest deaf jobs: http://deafdigest.com/category/jobs/ or click on "jobs" past Mid-Week & morning editions: http://deafdigest.com/category/mid-week-news/ 11/1/15 Blue and Gold editions at: http://deafdigest.com/newsletters/
