DeafDigest Mid-Week edition, October 4, 2013 -- a honest comment by a deaf political candidate Dartmouth North is a district in Nova Scotia, Canada and an election is coming up for the seats in the Member of the Legislative Assembly. All candidates were asked questions about their personal preferences, such as books, drinks, exercise, movies, pets and music. Deaf candidate Steve Estey was asked about his favorite music. He said "I'm deaf; they all sound the same to me"   -- good news for the deaf in Great Britain In the past deaf people that receive monthly checks from the government (pensions and disability) had to confirm their identities by voice telephone. After massive protests by the Deaf Community, the British government has changed its policy. Deaf people now can confirm their identities by email. DeafDigest hopes there are safeguards to prevent email fraud!     -- a deaf contestant on a TV reality program This coming season of the Project Runway reality TV series will feature fashion designs by Justin LeBlanc. He is deaf. The surprised deaf designer said he never thought it would become reality.
