-- a honest comment by a deaf political candidate
Dartmouth North is a district in Nova Scotia, Canada and
an election is coming up for the seats in the Member of
the Legislative Assembly. All candidates were asked
questions about their personal preferences, such as books,
drinks, exercise, movies, pets and music. Deaf candidate
Steve Estey was asked about his favorite music. He said
"I'm deaf; they all sound the same to me"
-- good news for the deaf in Great Britain
In the past deaf people that receive monthly checks from
the government (pensions and disability) had to confirm
their identities by voice telephone. After massive
protests by the Deaf Community, the British government
has changed its policy. Deaf people now can confirm their
identities by email. DeafDigest hopes there are safeguards
to prevent email fraud!
-- a deaf contestant on a TV reality program
This coming season of the Project Runway reality TV series
will feature fashion designs by Justin LeBlanc. He is
deaf. The surprised deaf designer said he never thought
it would become reality. This program is being shown
on the Lifetime network.
