-- Time Capsule, to laugh or to cry
Way back in 1939, a group of people at Louisiana
School for the Deaf buried a Time Capsule on
the campus grounds. But it was buried somewhere
on the old school campus. No one would know or
remember exactly where the capsule was buried (on
the headquarters of the Baton Rouge Police
Department). It took several years of searching
until a worker's drill bumped into the capsule! It
was taken out and everyone was thrilled about
the contents. A picture is at:

-- year 2015 was great
Year 2015 was great for - the Deaf Entertainment
(theater, TV, movies). An entertainment article
said we had Deaf West's Spring Awakening, Nyle
DiMarco winning TV's Top Model, Switched at Birth
still continuing; the Ukrainian Sign Language movie
The Tribe winning raves. Hope 2016 will still be
a great year, too!
-- driver license stickers
The Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles has
come up with something new. There are stickers
for licenses of deaf drivers that says:
"Deaf" or "Hard of Hearing, speak clearly"
This is for police officers during traffic
stops. They're often unaware of drivers'
deafness and may react in a bad way!
It is not required of deaf drivers, only just
if they want it. An explanation - this is for
drivers' licenses in drivers's wallets, not
license tags on back of cars - two different
things.
