- Margie and Luke to race again in The Amazing Race
It is now confirmed. The Amazing Race TV series will
start on February 20th, and yes, the Margie-Luke
team will be racing again. Margie, who is a hearing
mother of Luke, a deaf son, were in the lead in the
past but did not win.
They will try hard to win the $1,000,000 first prize.
- a successful search for a lost deaf child
In a small city in north China, a deaf child got lost.
A search party of over 50 city cab drivers worked
together to look for that lost deaf child. After
three days of searching, the child was found and
returned to his parents
- a deaf bartender and rugby player
In England, everyone loves rugby. There is a national
deaf British rugby team that plays against other national
deaf rugby teams.
One of the players is Liam Rowe. When not playing rugby
his full time job is bar tender in a small British town.
He has no problems communicating with the hearing patrons
in his pub.
- A leading deaf fund raiser in United Kingdom
Michael Baum, age 51, is deaf and also has cerebral palsy.
It does not stop him from raising funds to help support
the MukiBaum Treatment Centres, a nonprofit agency in
England that works with disabiled individuals. Averaging
between $100 and $600 per day, he has totalled over $600,000
in his years of fund raising efforts. People know him and
know the money goes for a good cause.
- a new Hearing Aid law in New Hampshire
There is a new law in New Hampshire; insurance companies must
pay up to $1,500 for a new hearing aid every five years.
What this means is that if a hearing aid costs $2,500, the
insurance company pays $1,500 and you pay $1,000. This is for
one purchase every five years, not every year.
