-- National Public Radio announces Great Deaf Teacher
The National Public Radio announced its list of 50
Great Teachers. One of these teachers is deaf -
Caroline Solomon, who teaches Biology at Gallaudet.
The big irony with National Public Radio is that
we cannot hear their programs because of our
deafness! Her pet project is cleaning out the junk
and the gunk on the Anacostia River, which is not
too far from the Gallaudet campus. As a much
younger woman, she was a gold medal-winning
Deaflympics swimmer.

Jamie Vardy is one of the best professional soccer
players in Great Britain. He plays for the Leicester
team in the Premier League. When he was younger
he was arrested for getting into a fight and
sentenced to wearing an electronic tag on his
ankle, with a 6pm to 6am curfew. Break the curfew,
go to jail! Why did he get into a bad fight?
He was defending a deaf friend who was being
bullied.
