-- one thing a deaf plumber cannot do
A deaf British plumber was recently interviewed.
He said he can do everything that all other hearing
plumbers can do - except for one thing! He cannot
hear the water leak. He, however, said it was not
a problem because he does not work alone, but works
as part of a plumbing team. They will tell him if
the water is leaking.
-- A reason why Taylor Swift is so popular
Taylor Swift is one of the world's most popular
singers. In a newspaper story about her, there
was a list of many reasons why she is so popular.
One of the reasons was her donating $10,000 to the
Horace Mann School for the Deaf two years ago.
Originally she had no plans to donate the money
to that school. But she was pranked by a group
that faked a promise to the school of her singing
performance. To make up for it (and to get even
with the pranksters) she made that donation to the
school.
-- A deaf scam that did not come from Nigeria
Not all scams come from Nigeria. One such relay scam
wasn't. Someone, claiming to be from Hawaii, offered
a free motorcyle to anyone that wanted it. It was
posted in a local newspaper It was not really free because
it would be $850.00 for shipping. Sounds too good to be
true - and the listed telephone number was in Oregon?
But the Oregon person never posted the newspaper ad.
The scammer used the deaf relay to post the ad with the
newspaper classified ads people - and they never realized
it was a scam. So, not every relay scam is from Nigeria!
Instead it was an American-only scam.
