-- home raided by the FBI
Some weeks back, DeafDigest mentioned that Starkey Hearing
fired its top officers, and that lawsuits were forthcoming.
DeafDigest suspected it was a matter of financial
irregularities that the officers got involved with. Anyway
just yesterday, the FBI raided the home of former president
Jerry Ruzicka. Starkey is one of the world's largest
hearing aid manufacturers, and it is located in
Minnesota.
-- sign language requirement of people in hospitals
The hosptial public relation officers, admitting clerks,
custodians and pharmacy assistants all must learn
sign language. It was ordered by Sibongiseni Dhlomo,
medical official in Durban, South Africa. One
interesting thing - he did not order doctors and
nurses to learn signs!
