-- organization pushing for captions on air flights
The Association for Airline Passenger Rights has announced
that it is pushing for captions on all air flights - real-time
captions and regular captions. What this means - all captions
on all in-flight movies. This organization is new, and so,
DeafDigest will wait and see if it is a powerful group that
the airline industry will listen to. If this group is more
powerful than the FCC, then we, the deaf, win!
-- deaf people don't vote
In many European nations, deaf people don't vote. They don't
vote not because of their deafness, but because they have not
been encouraged. Politicans and political parties do not involve
the deaf nor reach out to the deaf. As a result, many deaf people
do not relate to the political issues. What about the deaf in
USA? Don't know but the Deaf Congressional Caucus is hoping to
reach out to all deaf Americans.
-- Idaho looking for deaf prison officers?
Do we have deaf people that work as prison officers?
DeafDigest knows of one woman that works as a correctional
officer in Arizona. Anyway, Is Idaho really looking for deaf
prison officers? There was an announcement saying that the
state is looking for new prison officers and that a TTY
relay number is available for the deaf that want to contact
the state!
