-- a doctor communicates differently with a deaf patient
A doctor used a different way to communicate with a
deaf patient. No interpreters. No notes. No CART.
Instead he drew cartoons to explain things to
that deaf patient! Violation of ADA regulations?
Well, the hospital is in Hunan, China!
-- deaf relay fraud and the Deaflympics!
Announcement was made today of few more relay
fraud penalties. Billy Bowman, the SSA contact
with the deaf community, was a past director
of the USA Deaflympics group. He was responsible
for fundraising. He realized some relay providers
wanted to help deaf athletes with money collected
from relay fraud. He put a stop to it, ordering
these athletes to stay out of it. The only
relay provider that supported Bowman outright
was Sorenson!
-- a change in drivers licenses for the deaf in Florida?
John Cortes is a new state representative in the Florida
Legislature. He has many goals. One goal is
endorsements in drivers' licenses for deaf drivers.
Endorsements? Not sure what it is. Good or bad? Maybe a
special code to tell the cops that the driver is deaf?
Or another special code to tell the cops that interpreter
is required? Cortes did not explain fully about it.
