-- deaf actress unhappy with captions
A leading deaf actress in Great Britain is Genevieve
Barr. Born deaf she performed on TV, movies and stage.
She supports captions 100 percent but is unhappy
with the positioning of it on the stage. Deaf people
find it difficult to watch captions and the acting
at the same time. And surprise - many hearing
people are so fascinated with captions that they
ignore the acting! A picture of her is at:

-- a hearing cop shouting at a deaf driver
A cop turned on his lights to stop a deaf driver
from speeding. The deaf driver stopped his car.
The cop, still angry, shouted at the driver
to move the car as it was blocking the driveway.
The car didn't move. The cop walked to the deaf
driver to motion him to move the car. The
driver told him of his deafness. The cop said
he didn't care if the driver was deaf, and
lectured how important it was to follow
instructions - and gave him a ticket.
-- the better or the worst world
For years we have had hard of hearing
people complaining that they do not belong
to the deaf world nor of the hearing world.
A new twist is happening right now -
more CI kids are confused between these
two different worlds! The newspapers
are always saying that a CI makes a
hearing person out of a deaf child.
Not always that true.
