DeafDigest - 10 July 2014

DeafDigest Mid-Week edition, July 10, 2014     -- there is no "Registry of Interpreters" in one nation What happens if there is no "Registry of Interpreters" (RID) in a country? The country without such an organization is Namibia in Africa. The Namibian National Association of the Deaf (just like our own NAD) is complaining that the quality of interpreters is - lousy! And even worse, no asks the national organization for input and feedback on the interpreters. When we stop and think about it, we are lucky that we have RID.   -- Voice 911 sometimes has deaf problems A spokesperson at a 911 center said that when there are domestic situations involving the deaf, then these voice 911 calls sometimes do not work very well. For some reason when hearing family members makes these 911 calls, the dispatchers are not able to get the full information they need to be able to respond effectively. Something to do with language barriers between family members!     -- Deaf involved in a pro-separation nation near Russia In Belarus, there are people that do not like Ukraine and like Russia. Again, in Belarus there are those that like Ukraine and hate Russia. In a way the deaf are involved! While we do not know if any of them are fighters on the battlefield, there is a group in Belarus. They have been sneaking around in small towns in Belarus, giving out tiny Russian flags to people.   Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/deafdigest1 Twitter: @deafdigest to make subscription changes, go to http://deafdigest.com, click on the "subscribe" icon and follow screen instructions 07/06/14 Blue edition at: http://deafdigest.com/category/newsletter/newsletter-blue-newsletter/ 07/06/14 Gold edition at: http://deafdigest.com/category/newsletter/newsletter-gold-newsletter/
