Yes, if the city council is able to sell some property for that purpose. Talk is that the deaf school is interested in purchasing the land. Its' pretty much all premature talk. Communicating with the aliens via the internet? A joke? No, according to Vint Cerf, who is hard of hearing and one the Internet pioneers. In a recent speech he felt the future internet can be used to get in touch with the aliens out there in space.

From time to time we heard of captioned radio news,

and while this concept works, it has never really taken off. Anyway, the newest captioned radio player is Towson University, near Baltimore, coming up with its International Center for Accessible Radio Technology. It was written up in a recent press release. A perfect example of newspaper ignorance is this statement - For years, Marlee Matlin was the lone spokesperson for how the deaf can lead normal lives Marlee certainly was the most visible spokesperson regarding our deafness issues, but she certainly was not the lone spokesperson! We have spokespersons within our organizations - the NAD, the AgBell, the HLAA, as well as with our state associations and countless civic organizations. They are our spokespersons though they lack visibility and high profile. We have more and more deaf people becoming chefs. There are newspaper stories on them that come up frequently. Yet, the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Colorado has refused to pay for an interpreter for a deaf culinary arts students. As a result, this school is facing a discrimination lawsuit. .............................................................. SRAOU=view TKAEU=day ROPB=Ron The captioner may hear a sentence like this where someone was talking about the crew of a spacecraft: "The crew planned their ROPB/TKAEU/SRAOU with the Space Station." This sentence may translate like this: "The crew planned their Ron day view with the Space Station." In order to get this sentence to translate properly, the captioner would have to have the following entry in his or her dictionary: ROPB/TKAEU/SRAOU=rendezvous A PET PEEVE OF BEING DEAF you are in a group of hearing friends and you start a dispute with a hearing person in another group. The angry hearing person discusses this issue with your deaf friends but leaving you completely out of the loop - never mind the fact that you started the dispute!
