-- a partner promises to learn ASL
Peta Murgatroyd is partnering with Nyle DiMarco on
Dancing With the Stars. She has promised to learn
ASL to communicate with him. Who is she? Peta is
from New Zealand and is a professional dancer.
The big question - will Peta remember her ASL once
the Dancing With the Stars is over?
-- major league baseball pushes for diversity
Major League Baseball is pushing for diversity.
To diverse is to include the deaf. We have had
deaf major league baseball players. Now what
about deaf executives in major league baseball?
There was one - Ben Wade, director of scouting
for Los Angeles Dodgers between the sixties
and eighties. While Wade was deaf and avoided
mingling with teammates as a major league
pitcher, this fact was not publicly known!
Anyway he was the only deaf executive in
major league baseball.
