DeafDigest Mid-Week edition, November 10, 2016   -- two major movie chains lied, saying caption devices are fine A deaf couple wanted to watch captions at a movie theater. They went to two movie theaters (Regal and AMC) and found out that the captioning devices were broken. They confronted the theater managers. They told them the same thing - there isn't a problem. You get excited and come to the store to buy something. And you leave the store frustrated. Reason is that a hearing employee, fluent in ASL, quit his job to take a new job elsewhere. The other hearing employees in the store do not know how to deal with the deaf!   -- a deaf-friendly college stops ASL classes ASL classes at Napa Valley College, a California community college) is popular. Over 150 students took the classes as part of their foreign langauge requirement. Yet the administration has stopped offering the classes, at least temporarily. It is because almost all of the students do not either become interpreters or teachers of the deaf or professionals that work with the deaf!
